Overview

The objective of this role is to carry out administrative functions in support of NTIA, as described below. The tasks to be performed are directly related to achieving the NTIA mission areas.

Background

The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA), located within the Department of Commerce is the Executive Branch agency that is principally responsible by law for advising the President on telecommunications and information policy issues. NTIA's programs and policymaking focus largely on expanding broadband Internet access and adoption in America, expanding the use of spectrum by all users, and ensuring that the Internet remains an engine for continued innovation and economic growth. These goals are critical to America's competitiveness in the 21st century global economy and to addressing many of the nation's most pressing needs, such as improving education, health care, and public safety.

Responsibilities

  • Performs sensitive and highly visible administrative functions for a single or small group of Senior Executive(s).
  • Often the first person corresponded with for the Executive.
  • Manages schedule and calendars.
  • May perform or have access to activities of a highly confidential nature that may require comprehensive knowledge of organizational policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Administers specialized programs.
  • Manage and facilitate all forms of correspondence for the executive, acting as the first point of contact.

  • Draft executive correspondence and prepare reports, ensuring high standards of verbal and written communication.

  • Operate general office equipment and use Office Suite software applications proficiently.

  • Oversee the executive's schedule, managing calendars, appointments, and meetings.

  • Manage sensitive information with discretion, adhering to confidentiality requirements.

  • Oversee the administration of specialized programs within the executive's purview.

  • Act on behalf of the executive when authorized.

     

Qualifications

Approximately 8 or more years related experience. 

  • Technical Skills:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other office productivity tools.
    • Experience managing calendars, scheduling meetings, and coordinating travel arrangements.
    • Proven experience drafting executive-level correspondence, reports, and presentations with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism.
  • Soft Skills & Competencies:

    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
    • Strong organizational and time-management abilities, with keen attention to detail.
    • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
    • Professional demeanor with excellent interpersonal skills to interact effectively with senior leadership, employees, and external stakeholders.
  • Additional Requirements:

    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to shifting priorities.
    • Prior experience supporting senior executives or high-ranking officials is highly desirable.
    • U.S. citizenship is required, due to the nature of the position and mission.

 

Work Location: 

  • Work is performed at the Department of Commerce, Herbert C. Hoover Building (HCHB), Washington, D.C.
  • Regularly scheduled telework is not permitted.
  • The task's Contracting Officer’s Representative, on a case-by-case basis, may authorize situational telework.

Hours of Operation:

Under this task order, the Contractor is responsible for conducting business, Monday through Friday during normal business hours except Federal holidays or when the Government facility is closed due to local or national emergencies, administrative closings, or similar Government directed facility closings.

 

Period of Performance: 

This contract shall have a period of performance of 1 year from award.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered.
