Overview

The Agreement between the United States of America, Mexico, and Canada (USMCA) is a freetrade agreement between the United States Mexico, and China. 

Background

The United States, Mexico, and Canada updated NAFTA to create the new USMCA. USMCA is mutually beneficial for North American workers, farmers, ranchers, and businesses

Responsibilities

This position will be working directly with the Office of General Counsel (OGC).

  • Assisting attorneys in legal investigations regarding labor rights issues in Mexico, including:
    • Participating in meetings with workers, providing interpretation as needed
    • Maintaining case files, including translating and organizing evidence supporting labor-related investigations.
    • Reviewing and drafting summaries of evidence.
    • Conducting online research regarding labor issues in Mexico
    • Conducting an initial review of online tips regarding potential labor law violations in Mexico

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish, with the ability to perform all tasks in both languages.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a business, legal, labor, or related environment.
  • Familiarity with labor issues (preferred but not required).
  • Background in legal research and analysis (preferred but not required).
  • Ability to successfully complete a drug test within the first 10 days of employment.
